Grace Bright is green eyed, dirty blond haired petite Human serving aboard the USS Takeda Shingen. She is an enthusiast for flying and Klingon culture, both influenced by her "Aunt Dizi" that Grace considers to be her role model.

An out going young woman, she has a tight knit circle of friends that she spends most of her time off duty with. Together they do everything from try out the latest trendy program in the holodeck to boozing it up at lower deck parties to getting into discussions about the merits and flaws of various space craft.

She answers to her callsign, Pip, as much as she answers to her given name. Pip is short for Pipsqueak, which her friends started calling her as the shortest person in the group, even though she was only a quarter of an inch shorter than Zyrah.

Childhood

Raised on Earth in Boston by her mother, she didn't see her father much because he was usually off on assignment in Starfleet. Due to her parents choosing to be separated, though never actually divorcing, the family never took up residence wherever her father's current assignment was. She spent a lot of time with her grandmother growing up, and when she was young, her uncle Travis started to encourage her interest in flying.

Starfleet

It was a combination of her considering Diziara a role model, and her father having been in Starfleet, that lead Grace to seek out Starfleet for herself. When she learned you needed to be an officer in order to fly, she buckled down and studied hard to qualify for the Starfleet Academy entrance exams. When she graduated from the Academy, she found out that her father had been lying to her over the years when he'd insist he had some important high ranking job. It would not have mattered to her that he was only an enlisted grunt, if only he'd been honest to her about it. She has not talked to him since she found out about his lying.

Hobbies

Grace has a strong interest in Klingon culture. She's almost fluent in the language, and a great fan of their literature, Shakespeare in particular, as well as their Operas. She keeps in sporadic contact with Diziara's brother Kang, who gave her a copy of Hamlet in the original Klingon for her birthday once. Her interest in the Klingon culture has been something that she's mostly pursued on her own, since her boyfriend and friends don't share the same interest in it she does.

She is very open and comfortable about her kinky sexuality, and often times uses various acts as wagers on bets made between her and her boyfriend.

Relationships

Family

Wendy Bright

Growing up, Grace hated her mother. As the authority figure in Grace's life, the one who had the punish her when she did wrong, who had to teach her what was right and wrong, and encourage her to do what she needed to do instead of just what she wanted, Wendy looked like the buy guy from the perspective of the child under her care. When Grace found out about the lie her father had been telling her and her sister about his Starfleet career, Grace took time to think about her mothers actions when caring for her and her sister as they grew up, and eventually realized that her mother had only been doing what was needed to raise her girls right. Since her realization about both her parents and her misjudgment of their influences on her during her childhood, she has not talked to her father, and instead works to improve her bond with her mother.

Travis Foster

Her uncle was a strong influence in her life early on, up until his death. When the extended family was trying to push Grace towards being a doctor before she'd even been alive long enough to show much of an aptitude for anything yet, he started carefully watching his niece for signs of what she would want to do. Upon the first indication of interest in flying, he started to do what he could to encourage her. As he started down that path of encouragement, he started dating Diziara and jumped upon the chance to give Grace a role model.

Diziara

Not genetically or legally related to Grace, she is still considered family by Grace and her close family. Due to the encouragement of her Uncle Travis, Grace latched onto Diziara as a role model almost from the moment she met her. Diziara was a little unsure of herself in this role at first, but between Grace's enthusiasm, the quiet encouragement and pride of her boyfriend, and the support of Grace's mother, she settled into the role quickly.

If asking Grace why she's in Starfleet, the first thing out of her mouth is "Aunt Dizi". The oddest part of this statement is that when Travis died, Diziara distanced herself from the family, but even with the distance and scarce nature of her role model in that time period, Grace still pursued her Starfleet career so she could be just like Aunt Dizi. It had actually been over ten years since Grace had last talked to Diziara, at Diziara's graduation from Starfleet Academy, before Diziara's transfer to the Shingen.

Friends

Toza Zyrah

Grace's best friend, they hit it off at the start of the Academy, and have been attached at the hip ever since. The two have supported each other through good times and bad, pushing the other to be that much better. Grace is the one who gave Zyrah her call sign, in light of her faultless cheer, and her head being in the heavens in her search to better understand the path of the prophets and their intent for her life.

Boq

The best friend of her boyfriend, he was the one who introduced the two originally. An ever present source of mischief and silliness, he often gets dismissed by those who don't know him. When in the cockpit of a fighter, it's much more obvious to even the casual observer that he is a force that one can not ignore, though his social subtleties make him as dangerous in polite society but in a much less obvious way.

Shelly White

A part of Grace's tight knit circle of friends, she's mostly allowed to stick around because Boq wants her around. Grace doesn't have a problem with her specifically, but she is often left wondering if a break from Shelly's negativity might just make for a happier group. Grace has noticed that Shelly has been relaxing a bit more lately, and holds out hope that eventually Shelly will start having some fun and stop denying herself.

Kizel Eyn

Grace's boyfriend of five years, they seem like the end is nowhere in sight. They have the occasional argument, and often make up with loud sex much to the frustration of their neighbors, but Boq, Shelly and Zyrah have started maintaining a pool as to when one is going to ask the other to marry them and which one is going to do the asking.

The happy couple is fiercely competitive, and this often leads to people outside of their circle of friends to think that the couple has no chance of lasting.
